Arterial alveolar ratio (Aa ratio)

Aa ratio = PaO₂ (mmHg) / (713*FiO₂) - (PaCO₂ (mmHg)/R). In the following calculation mmHg has been converted to KPa and R (the respiratory quotient) is assumed to be 1. An Aa ratio less than 0.22 indicates severe lung disease.
